I first wrote about Deliveroo when it came to Leicester last year, and I have to say since then I have been a big fan of the service. For those of you who don’t know – Deliveroo is all about bringing quality restaurant food straight to your door, all done on branded bicycles and motorbikes so you’re guaranteed fast delivery. In Leicester, the restaurants Deliveroo works with continues to expand and includes restaurants that offer really great vegan dishes, giving us vegans more options than ever before when it comes to takeaways. Not that I’m complaining about my usual curry takeaway, but it’s always nice to have a bit of variety.
At the moment, these are the vegan-friendly restaurants working with Deliveroo.
Wagamama
Wagamama may not have an extensive list of vegan options, but the vegan dishes they do have are delicious. I’m a big fan of the yasai itame – spicy, slurpy, filling – perfect cold weather food. Other vegan options include vegetable gyoza, miso soup, aga tofu and edamame.
Yo! Sushi
Yo! Sushi has been a favorite of mine for a while. They have several great vegan options like the avocado maki (ask for it without mayo), vegetable yakisoba and tofu katsu curry (PETA’s curry of the year 2015).
Handmade Burger Co
Handmade Burger Co has been making big strides in the vegan world by not only offering a whopping 17 different vegan items, but also by getting those dishes certified by the Vegan Society. The burgers are all clearly marked on the menu, and there are plenty of salads and sides too to go with them.
Mission Burrito
Mission Burrito serve up fresh burritos, tacos and salads that are made to order with ingredients made fresh (including the guacamole). You can get vegan burritos stuffed with roasted mixed veg, black beans, salad, salsa and guacamole. Don’t forget the tortilla chips!
Zizzi
Zizzi recently introduced a new vegan pizza with their own homemade, vegan cheese. I have yet to try it, but I have only heard really great things from the vegan community so I seriously need to get on it. Perhaps it will be my next Deliveroo order…
